Wozniak Music



David Wozniak

A native of Buffalo, NY, David Wozniak is an experienced soloist, teacher, conductor, chamber musician, and repair technician.  He has performed with the Mobile (AL) Symphony Orchestra, the Gulf Coast (MS) Symphony Orchestra, and the FestivalSouth (MS) Festival Orchestra.  Recent guest artist engagements include Queens College(NY), Mars Hill (NC) University, San Diego State University, and the University of Louisville for their renowned New Music Festival.  An avid proponent of new music, David has worked with many composers including Gregg Rossetti, Jonathan David, Martha Sullivan, Sy Brandon, Marc Satterwhite, and Alan Theissen.  David’s premiere recording, American Fusion, was released on Emeritus Records and featured four world-premiere recordings.  David earned degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi and Fredonia State University, where he studied with Lawrence Gwozdz and Wildy Zumwalt, respectively.  He also has received coaching from Harry-Kinross White.  Besides his work as a saxophonist, David has performance and teaching experience on all of the woodwinds.  Additionally, he studied wind conducting under Thomas Fraschillo.  David is a member of the North American Saxophone Alliance, the International Double Reed Society, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and was recently honored as a "Friend of the Arts" by Sigma Alpha Iota.                                                                                                         He teaches at the Borough of Manhattan Community College, in addition to his private studio. 

Melissa Wozniak


Melissa is a New York State Certified Teacher (Music K-12). She specializes early childhood music and movement and in the developing voice of middle and high school students. In addition to her own private studio, Melissa teaches at the Dryden Street School in Westbury, The Greenvale School, and the Broadway Bound Dance School in Garden City.  Melissa was a guest teaching artist at the Celia Cruz Bronx High School of Music as well as at West Side Collaborative Middle School though her work with New York City Opera's education department. Melissa is a frequent soprano soloist at the First Presbyterian Church of Oyster Bay, and a freelance singer in NYC. Since 2010, Melissa has been singing and conducting with C4: The  Choral Composer/Conductor Collective, a new music ensemble. She also serves on the Board of Directors for this successful non-profit organization as their treasurer.  She is  a past member of Khorikos and Essential Voices USA. Melissa received her bachelors degree from SUNY Fredonia and has completed graduate level courses at the University of Southern Mississippi.

Melissa Wozniak

Voice students fifth-grade and older, specializing in the developing female voice.  Current and former students have succeeded at NYSSMA Solo Festivals (with several All-State level singers) and musical theater endeavors. Typical one-hour lesson includes: guided warmups, vocalises, and technique work; intensive study of repertoire of various genres; and studies in musicianship, ear training, and music theory.

Woodwind students middle-school aged and older, specializing in single-reeds but offering lessons on all woodwinds.  Current and former students have successfully applied to college music programs, succeeded at NYSSMA Solo Festivals, and participate in numerous concerto competitions.  



Melissa also has over ten years of experience leading early childhood sessions (children aged nine months to seven years).  She is available for weekly classes and birthday parties.  

A typical thirty-minute session can include: silly songs, creative student-led movement activities, instruments (rhythm sticks, triangles, shakers, etc.), scarves, bean bags, and lots of musical play!
